There’s usually lot of ‘uhhmming and ahhing’ when considering eating anywhere in Darling Harbour generally because there’s a lot of bad hype that surrounds the very touristy locale. For drinks on the other hand, Cockle Bay Wharf is a bustling area with a great view, what more could you ask for! With the added addition of Casa Ristorante in King Street Wharf bringing some good quality italian food, I’ve slowly become more inclined to make the effort to go there a little more often. Us ‘For Food Saker’s’ were invited by Carly from ‘Blackbird Cafe’ to try out the new drinks menu and for the most part they didn’t disappoint! Blackbird Cafe has a great atmosphere for a casual dining experience or just for a cocktail or two. It was great to know that they were getting into the World Cup spirit as well, with decorations hanging all around the restaurant! Carly kindly started us off with some ‘Crunchy chips w. thyme salt and basil aioli $7′ They were really good chips and the basil aioli was …

My brother’s move from Sydney to Melbourne was a blessing in disguise and you’ll understand why after you read this post!! So for my brother Nick’s birthday, my family (sans Bianca) decided to go down to Melbourne and celebrate with him for the long weekend and yes that was the main reason for our travels but mine was slightly geared more towards all the food that I was dying to eat!! Before I hopped on that plane I had my trusty iPhone list of all my food destinations that were eagerly waiting for the new For Food’s Sake business cards to hit their tables (not really, but I put them down anyway!) Before I start! I thought I grew accustomed to the freezing cold after spending winter in New York, obviously I was wrong. Walking around in 9 degree weather during the day when your’re not dressed appropriately really isn’t ideal but any-ways…To ease my whining cold state my mum took me to one of her favourite places in Melbourne. Chokolait in the Hub Arcade. This …

Did someone say Cheese & Truffle Toasties??? To launch into talking about food without providing context is something I generally don’t do.  However, on this occasion I do so in order to ingrain into the minds of our readers one absolute stand out item on the winter menu at The Oaks Hotel’s Cabin Fever bar..The Toastie.  Now.. on to the context. The Oaks Hotel, a stalwart establishment of Sydney’s Neutral Bay, has recently transformed their front bar to create an inviting ambience resembling an aspen-style ski lodge.  Myself and fellow FFS bloggers, Bianca and Alex, were lucky enough to have been invited to attend the launch party of this unique pop-up bar.  We were suitably impressed by the well thought out details with the use of wooden clad walls, fireplace and various ski equipment carefully placed around the bar to give it a real cabin feel. The Canadian Club was flowing that evening and we sipped on a delightful drink, known as a Ginger Spritz, containing CC, ginger ale and lemon – a refreshing combination that went down a little too easy! Having been tempted by the sound of Celebrity Chef, Danny Russo’s, specially …

2014 is an important one for me as it is the year I am getting married. In typical bride-to-be fashion I have begun the mental shift from carefree living to the notorious “shredding for the wedding” state of mind. With five months to go until the big day, I started thinking about a weight management eating plan that would help me lose a few kilos and stay on track until the wedding. A friend of mine introduced me to a gourmet meal delivery service called Dietlicious, which she had trialled for a few weeks and raved about. Having always shied away from the idea of microwavable or pre-packaged foods I was a little hesitant, however my friend assured me this program was different…and she was not wrong. I chose the 5 day 1500 calorie kick starter program (menu 2) and from the outset I had a good feeling about the service. The website is very user friendly, with the available meals plans clearly defined and priced. The delivery – packaged into individual days Delivery dates …
